Chiropractic Treatment, services in Lakewood CO and San Francisco CA.
Your spine is one of the most important parts of your body—spinal health influences how you feel and how your body functions. If you’re experiencing chronic pain in your back, neck, or extremities, it’s important to fix your posture and spinal curvatures to sustain long-term relief and optimal health.
While chiropractic adjustments can benefit those suffering from pain from joints, discs, and muscles short-term, a chiropractor specializing in Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP) focuses on getting your spine back to its natural curvatures and great posture to improve whole body function and relieve pain for good.
At PostureWorks, our advanced corrective care is a holistic approach to analyzing your body as a whole and restoring its posture to its natural optimal alignment. When your body is in optimal alignment, science shows us it will heal faster, perform with more strength, and avoid the degeneration that comes with poor ergonomics, aging, and trauma.
When you come to PostureWorks, your care will focus on helping you tackle whatever problem you are facing, even if you have not found a solution with other providers. Our role is to accurately diagnose the issue and educate you on yourself so that in the end, not only will you look and feel better but you will understand exactly how to take care of your posture and alignment for the rest of your life.
Evidence-Based Chiropractic Treatments to Eliminate the Source of Pain
The PostureWorks team utilizes Chiropractic BioPhysics® to correct and restore your spine to normal alignment. CBP is a highly-advanced chiropractic analysis and treatment system that applies mechanical engineering to the spine and postural misalignments. You will begin with an in-depth analysis that takes into consideration all factors including lifestyle, ergonomics, injury, and even genetics to result in an individualized treatment plan.
With our patients at the heart of our care, the CBP chiropractic treatment is truly unique, as it emphasizes the structural rehabilitation of the spine and promotes balanced postural health to alleviate pain at its source:
Spinal Misalignment
The spine is the foundation for our body’s structural system. The shape of the spine influences how we move, feel, look, and age. A misaligned spine directly contributes to a host of problems such as poor posture, disc degeneration, nerve issues, and undue pressure on the neck, lower back, and other areas throughout your body. At PostureWorks, we provide you with customized treatment plans that incorporate postural exercises, neuro-muscular reeducation, and spinal alignment traction to get your spine back to its natural curvature.
Poor Posture
If your profession requires you to sit for long periods of time, it can become more and more difficult to maintain a healthy, upright posture. The gravitational pull of your body is redirected as a result of sitting, which can overstress the spine if you don’t retain a healthy spinal alignment. At PostureWorks, we provide tips, exercises, and stretches to help you maintain a healthy posture, no matter where your professional or personal life takes you.
Pain Due to Injury
The most common injuries sustained in car crashes, sports injuries, or falls create repetitive pain and structural misalignments, meaning the biomechanics of your body have been altered. In essence, you have experienced a change in the shape and/or alignment of your spine. This affects how your spine moves and absorbs elements and how it distributes force. At PostureWorks, we help you determine the appropriate course of treatment using our biometrics analysis that allows us to visualize any spinal injuries that were sustained and what your optimal spinal health should be.

How to Fix Posture and Back Problems for Good
Posture and Spinal Alignment Care Plans are adapted from the Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) evidence-based research. More than 30 years of research and 250+ peer articles all conclude that in order to achieve not just short-term pain relief, but also lasting improvements for patients, there are three main types of treatment necessary: Postural Exercise, Neuro-Muscular Reeducation, and Spinal Alignment Traction.
Postural Exercise
Each patient will have a set of postural core exercises based on their unique spinal alignment. These exercises are both for in-office and for home self-care. Initially, these exercises will build strength out of weakness and eventually will give you the endurance you need to hold great posture throughout each and every day.
Neuro-Muscular Reeducation
While the muscles need strength to be able to keep you upright all day long, they also need to be taught a new habit and new default balanced alignment. Have you ever told yourself “I need to sit up straight,” and then 30 seconds later, you’ve fallen right back into the bad posture—that’s your brain taking you back to your default setting. Our brains and bodies learn bad habits day in and day out from our daily activities, traumas, and ergonomics. So, the second step in correcting spinal alignment is to reteach the brain (neuro) and body (muscular) connection to hold you in a new unconsciously wonderful posture.
Spinal Alignment Traction
Crucial for postural and spinal improvements, traction is key to changing the shape of your spinal ligaments and discs. Ligaments and discs are very elastic, tough, fibrous materials that are literally the guidewires for the shape of your spine. They keep everything in place, even while you are moving, sitting, and exercising. Over time, they will adapt and toughen (hypertrophy) into the wrong shape if you sit in front of a computer all day or can be altered if you have a big injury. The goal of traction is to regain flexibility and stretch your ligaments back into their original healthy shape and rehydrate your disc.
The 3 Phases of Care
While regular chiropractic care is helpful in providing temporary relief from back pain, neck pain, and headaches, PostureWorks’ advanced chiropractic care in San Francisco and Lakewood, uses the evidence-based Chiropractic BioPhysics technique as the foundation for our advanced chiropractic care to go well beyond a temporary fix. By rehabilitating your spine back to its natural alignment, you will restore your body’s flexibility, mobility, strength, and create optimal blood flow and nervous system function. In doing so, you will alleviate chronic pain, muscle tension, and related health problems on a more permanent basis.
Initial Care
If you’re in immediate pain and discomfort, the first step is to get you out of pain. For this reason, once you are fully assessed, we will focus on pain relief through adjustments and other stretches geared to alleviate pain and prepare your body for the corrective phase. This phase could take as little as a few sessions to complete.
Corrective Care
Once you’re out of pain, we’ll focus on addressing the underlying cause of the problem; spinal misalignment. For this, we utilize the most advanced and result-oriented chiropractic and PT protocols, which includes traction, decompression, retraining your unconscious postural habits, and customized home care exercises to strengthen your core musculature. This phase, on average, lasts between 3 to 6 months.
Maintenance Care
Once you have completed corrective care, our research shows that pain reduction and increased function stay stable or even improve further beyond what you achieved in the corrective phase. And the good news is a balanced spine is easy to maintain. Our maintenance patients generally see us one to two times per month as we continue to work with them to improve postural, exercise, and ergonomic habits. Annual check-ups will also help us re-measure your posture and guarantee that there is no backward slippage or regression.
